H. Wakefield has resided in the wonderful, scenic and diverse state of Maine for all of her 83 years. She shares her semi-rural home with Miss Joy, an aging but energetic, miniature Australian Shepherd Miss Joy is her constant companion for hiking, kayaking, RVing, and long drives in their classic truck. Her hobbies are varied, including writing, painting, home renovations, birding, fishing and most any activity outdoors. She has owned, or been owned, by many different animals throughout her lifetime, including horses, dogs and cats. To put it briefly, she has enjoyed and continues to enjoy her life to the fullest. Her first book, The Boat, was very well received, surprising her as a first-time writer. Her second book, Man in the Woods, was anticipated by her readers and also greatly enjoyed. To her surprise and delight, the books have been enjoyed by readers of all ages and backgrounds. They love her style of storytelling. One reader remarked that, 'it took me away from my hum-drum situation and transported me to another dimension. Please keep writing. And so, she has.
