The Italian choice to be part of the European Monetary Union has recently been contested, due also to the major political turnovers occurred at the regional level in the European Union. This book aims at rediscovering the reasons why Italian representatives chose to sign in the Maastricht Treaty, bounding Italian economy to the Eurozone. Through the analysis of the political economy, fiscal, and parties' stances in Italy, the effort of the author is to shed a light on a controversial and topical issue from the national point of view.
