The ornaments range in difficulty from Easy to Complex and include both three dimensional shapes and flat motifs. A variety of crochet techniques are used, including amigurumi, crocodile stitch, Irish crochet, and tapestry crochet, so the final set will also be a sampler of sorts. Each ornament can be made in 1-2 hours, depending on the ornament. The last ornament can also be used as a tree topper for a small tabletop tree.

Stacy Vaka began crocheting when she was 12 years old, and in 2007 she started the website Crochet Kitten as a way to share about two of her favorite things: crocheting and cats. At the time she was the mother to two cats and a Lhasa Apso, but her family has grown since then, and she now homeschools two free-spirited, creative daughters. As a side effect of homeschooling is the tendency to want to make everything educational, so too has Crochet Kitten become more focused on crochet skill enrichment and teaching.
