Rudyard Kipling (1865-1936) was one of the most popular writers in English of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He was the youngest and the first English-speaking Nobel laureate. Robert Ingpen has designed, illustrated, and written more than 100 published works of fiction and nonfiction, among them The Jungle Book and the centenary edition of Peter Pan and Wendy. In 1986 he was awarded the Hans Christian Andersen Medal for his contribution to children's literature.
