Deborah Rodriguez wuchs in Holland, Michigan, auf und arbeitet seit 1979 als Friseurin. 2002 zog sie nach Kabul, um dort die erste Schönheitsschule Afghanistans mitzubegründen. Heute leitet Rodriguez die Schule und führt außerdem den Oasis Salon sowie das Kabul Coffee House. Sie lebt mit ihrem afghanischen Ehemann in Kabul.
