As a graduate of The New York School of Performing Arts and a student of voice at The Manhattan School of Music, Rima Lynn Xiques majored in theater under director Vinette Carroll, and in dance under dancer/choreographer Cora Cahan.She began her professional career at the age of 17. After graduation, she was a headline vocalist at leading hotels and showrooms in New York such as Roseland, The Concord, The Nevele and The Drake before moving to Toronto, Canada. She began touring in Summer Stock Theater in shows such as West Side Story, Bye Bye Birdie and Guys and Dolls, and in USO shows aboard the USS Guadalcanal. She also toured with her own show bands, Sugarcane and The Collage, throughout the United States, Canada and South America. One of her most challenging and gratifying roles in Community Theater was playing Amanda in The Glass Menagerie.After moving to South Florida, she developed a reputation for having a unique style of performing and was asked to present to a number of women's organizations, where she spoke about the role of the professional woman in business. She appears in The Florida International University video, Professional Images and has been a guest speaker at Jackson Memorial Hospital, The National Association of Bank Women and Women in Sales.With the completion of A Very Special Christmas Tree, a new holiday musical and Stages, a collection of poems, she has added playwright and poet to her resume. As a member of the Township Theater Group in Coconut Creek, Florida, she continues to enjoy performing and recently directed Steel Magnolias and The Children's Hour as part of the groups' theater workshop classes.Even with her strong background in performing, the role she considers most rewarding is that of mother to her two children, Richard and Nicole, who have always been the most encouraging and supportive of her aspirations and love of the performing arts.
