Autorenporträt
C. Richard James wrote The Kirtland Temple: Its Amazing History and Continuing Blessings (1830-2020) to help readers learn and understand the significant and foundational role the Kirtland Temple has played in the restoration and growth of the Church of Jesus Christ in these Latter-days. Richard's interest in the Kirtland Temple peaked while he and his wife, Linda Kay (Brunt), served as missionary tour guides at their Church's Historic Kirtland Visitors' Center and Village, located just down the hill from the temple. As tour guides, they were asked many sincere historical and doctrinal questions about the nearby Kirtland Temple, which motivated Richard to search for faithful answers, and thus, this book was born. This valuable and unique work provides readers with a single book where they can access documented answers to the questions most people ask about the temple's history, builders, construction, dedication, heavenly manifestations, ordinances, and ownership. Richard has a master's degree in Business Administration from the University of Southern California, and a BS degree in Industrial Management from Brigham Young University. In his professional career, he worked as a senior manager for a large southern California gas utility company and served on the board of directors for several community- and business-related organizations. He grew up in Provo, Utah, and as a young adult served a two-and-a-half-year mission for his church in New Zealand. He has served as a ward bishop, high councilman and as a Multi-stake Director of Public Affairs. Before their mission to Kirtland, Richard and Linda lived in Santa Barbara, California. Afterward, they moved and settled in Provo, Utah. They love spending time with their three married children, eleven grandchildren, and four great-granddaughters. They especially enjoy having them come and spend their summer vacations with them at their family cabins on the North Fork of the Snake River in Eastern Idaho.
