Autorenporträt
Cerita is a native of Chicago, IL and has a passion for nurturing young minds and telling stories. She takes her inspiration for writing from her three children, now young adults. At some point in their early years they asked, "Why do we have to follow rules?" With this age-old question in mind, Cerita attempted to resolve the mystery of why rules are important and The Land of No Rules was created. It has been shared with many other children over the years to talk about virtues with a touch of humor. At the very least, it may serve as an alternative to the age-old parental response of "because I said so!"Olivia was born and raised in New York City, where she is also currently based. Since she could hold a pencil, according to her parents, becoming an artist was always a matter of, not if, but when. Fueled by creativity she perused art education from grade school up to receiving her BFA in illustration at the School of Visual Arts. With her pencil now replaced with a stylus, her art focuses on simple shapes and vibrant colors. Olivia's black and Afro-Boriqua roots push her to create art, stories and characters that reflect her experiences growing up and of so many others like her.
