Mike Thompson has had a lifelong interest in cricket. His first book, The Lord of Lord's, a biography of the early 19th-century cricketing vicar, Lord Frederick Beauclerk, was long-listed for the MCC/Cricket Society Book of The Year award in 2018. The Last Corinthian draws on detailed research, numerous interviews with Mike Smith and conversations with many of his former England and Warwickshire team-mates and opponents.
