Autorenporträt
Kate Mitchell writes about crime and specialises in domestic noir; she is no doubt influenced by her life and work. Raised on a farm in the highest and possibly bleakest village in Britain, Kate describes a disastrous school career followed by a series of jobs including filing, working as an au pair, and printing saucy motifs on underpants. She moved to London to work with homeless women in Soho while attending night-school, then going to university and becoming a probation officer. A lifelong ambition to write ¿ put on hold while she earned a living and raised a family ¿ was realised when she completed the MA in Writing at Sheffield Hallam. Her first novel, The House Fell on Her Head, was the result, followed by short stories, published in anthologies. The forthcoming novel, The Green-Eyed Boy, was shortlisted for the GH Novel Competition 2018. Kate currently lives in the hilly part of Lincolnshire, amongst the trees, beside a chalk stream, with her partner and their bees. This splendid isolation should be an inspiration but is usually a distraction. You can follow her on Twitter @k8swaby
