What was daily life like in ancient Israel? We get a good glimpse by looking at the laws of the Book of the Covenant (Exod. 20 - 23). God revealed to his people laws on legal courts, on oaths, on slavery, and about animals. There were laws with sanctions, and those without sanctions, relying on moral suasion.
