This book describes 25 examples of old ways of leadership thinking, based on real life experiences, the results, and shows new ways of leadership thinking to turn it around. Words and actions are powerful. They can lift a person up or crush them flat. When you work in an organization for many years, you can't help but assimilate the organizations ways of thinking and being. This was my experience in my 32-year career. You learned by observing your leaders. It's what you had to go on unless you were lucky to have an exceptional forward-thinking leader as mentor. My experience is, they are few and far between, because they have learned from observing their leaders. This is what people mean by a "work culture." The habits, behaviors, and traditions of leadership and how stuff gets done (or not) as a result. My goal is to gently and sometimes not so gently, nudge you out of past ways of thinking into a creative, collaborative future, where people will love to work for you. You will love that, too.Hinweis: Dieser Artikel kann nur an eine deutsche Lieferadresse ausgeliefert werden.
I completed a 32-year interdisciplinary career with the National Park Service. The last 6 years of my career, I became interested in leadership and employee engagement, feeling there was something missing in the way work and workers were "managed". Very top down, bureaucratic, and hierarchical, siloed and transactional. I had an aha moment after taking an unusual leadership course involving connecting with your personal and work passions. Something clicked, and I thought, this is the necessary ingredient, conscious leadership with heart! Helping to lift employees up in an organization and support their talents and passions to accomplish amazing and creative ways of working together. I co-lead a national grassroots innovative leadership employee group for several years, focusing on employee engagement, organizational network structures, and new ways of leadership. I coordinated the the certification of a cadres of employees to conduct values assessments and implemented a pilot project conducting values assessments for leaders and work groups, to build on current strengths and identify blind spots holding them back. I am now fully focusing on my passion to raise awareness of new ways of leadership, connecting people to their innate talents and values, and assisting Leaders create the conditions for workplaces to thrive.
