Award-winning author Jonathan Veley's engaging storytelling breathes life into the history of American writing instruments, told against the backdrop of an American society in crisis. The 134 articles in this seventh installment, written during the apparent subsidence and subsequent resurgence of the pandemic in 2021, weave groundbreaking research, stunning photography, and personal anecdotes into a monumental journey through the world of vintage mechanical pencils. The Leadhead's Pencil Blog, Volume 7 thoroughly documents recent discoveries, unravels mysteries which have long puzzled historians, and corrects many longstanding myths to an unprecedented degree in this series. "Yes, Virginia" (as the author frequently quips), this celebration of the humble mechanical pencil leaves the reader with appreciation for the universal, human struggle to create beautiful and practical objects, for the people who produced them, and for the community of those who enjoy them today. 390 pages, hardbound.
