It is the first day of the summer holidays and Jack, Julie and their dog, Dexter, have arrived at their family cottage in Ireland. The children are overtaken by an extraordinary series of events while looking for Dexter in an old derelict hut at the bottom of their garden and are plunged into a breath taking adventure full of twists and turns and danger as they team up with their Grandpa in the search for the secrets within the mysterious Bellrock Castle. This is an old fashioned children's adventure story straight out of the Famous Five mould, with a clever twist that brings it bang up to date for the present day reader. Breathtakingly exciting and fast paced, with surprises and cliff hangers at the end of each chapter, the action never lets up as the characters race against time to discover the hidden meaning behind the Legend of Bellrock Castle.
Autorenporträt
Vincent O'Donnell is a retired school teacher, living in Glasgow, Scotland. He has written a number of short stories, including several which have been published in the Irish Christmas magazine, The Holly Bough. He has also self-published a short volume of poems, which raised over £500 for charity and has written a number of songs and hymns, some of which have been recorded and distributed locally. Vincent has created a series of picture book stories, written in rhyme, for his grandchildren, featuring the character Jungle Jim, whose adventures have taken him to rugby matches, local museums and the planet Mars. With the older children now beginning to read for themselves, it was time to write something more substantial for them and the result was Vincent's first children's adventure story - The Legend of Bellrock Castle. When not writing or looking after his grandchildren, Vincent enjoys reading, country walks, golf, football and playing his guitar.
