I was born in 1961 and was raised in the east side of New York City, The East River Project was the heart and soul of Spanish Harlem. I was a small skinny kid and always got bullied, there was no such thing as cyberbullies back then, back then it was the real thing. I was so afraid to walk to the store or even cross the streets. Then at the age of eleven, I began to study Goju Ryu Martial Arts at the Boys Club: I only took a few classes but that was the turning point of my life. As I grew older so did my confident as I was gaining more knowledge of the Arts. So much so I began to develop my own way of fighting. At the age of seventeen I created my own style of martial arts. I had many names or transitions to my way of fighting, but the one that stayed is called (Chen Kun Do or the C-System ---- The Art of Change). The knowledge I have about martial arts is because of an old friend of mine (John Flores), to me he is the real reason why I am how I am today, he will always be a great friend and teacher. I just wont to say to Sensei John and to all the other great Sensei's throughout my life, thank you for fulfilling me with your thoughts and knowledge. And to all the readers and critics in this world, I will tell you this, I am not an expert in Japanese culture, nor have I ever studied under any Japanese Literature or under any Japanese Author or Teachers. But ever since I was a young boy I always loved the way of life in Japan, their dedication, their loyalty and honor for life and death. I know in today's world times are different, but you can still see their traditional ways that were passed down from generations.
