This research studies the legitimacy of the manager in public administration in Morocco. It deals with the sources of the recognition of his legitimacy as well as the effects on the attitudes and behaviours of his collaborators. It was carried out among 96 civil servants from different public organisations in the prefecture of Oujda-Angad. The results obtained show that the legitimacy of the public sector manager is mainly rooted in the power he or she holds in his or her hands as well as in his or her leadership practice.
