David Staines, a professor of Canadian literature at the University of Ottawa, has written and edited a number of books, including The Canadian Imagination: Dimensions of a Literary Culture, Beyond the Provinces: Literary Canada at Century's End, Stephen Leacock: A Reappraisal, and My Financial Career and Other Follies, a selection of Leacock's humorous pieces.
