The theoretical assumptions that sustain the study of the life and educational work of Selva Dolores Pérez Silva (1937-present) reveal that she is a valuable exponent of current Cuban education. Her life and work have been developed in a socio-historical context that favors the integral development of man. The periodization revealed that she is a continuation of the line of thought of the educators of the 19th century and first half of the 20th century, the contribution of her educational work to the development of Cuban education is related to the training of teachers for the different teachings, the History of Pedagogy and the History of Education, the exercise of a university teaching that integrates the different substantive processes. His conceptions about the studies of representative figures of education constitute a starting point and an important reference for the realization of different researches in Cuba, his legacy becomes an important contribution to current Cuban education. A theoretical research of historical-pedagogical cut is carried out.
