The Lord healed him to ease his load; Leper laughed and squealed. The Centurion came and asked, For his servants' good health. Christ said, "Order be done, the task." Servant was healed with stealth. Then Peter's dear mother-in-law, Did have a high fever. The Lord healed her every flaw. Now, she's a believer. Next, God-Man expelled the possessed, And cured those afflicted. From all illnesses, he gave rest. Tell no one." he restricted. IN PRAISE OF THE GOD-MAN Lord, we start out the New Year with you. Bless us, as you always do. Protect us from all evil, And all forms of upheaval. Know that we praise your name, And keep the candle of our birth aflame. STATUS QUO When sadness penetrates the soul, the heart, And steals the joy of sensuous desire, And magic of sweet love turns bitter tart, And flustered lust is beaten to retire, Then lovers undertake to love no more. The idle fascination satisfied. The bodies, breasts, and darting eyes of whores, Were once the husbands, housewives, but they died. No more are eager, tender whispers heard. In bedrooms, lamentations take their place. The whole conception, love is but a word. These thoughts have proven; stated is my case. Dr. Kathleen Butler-Lowrie received her doctorate in Adult and Community College Education from North Carolina State University. She had such a love of learning, Kathleen achieved 18 hours in post-doctorate English at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. She has published many poems and some journal articles. She has ghost-written one book. Kathleen has been a professor of English most of her career at community colleges and universities. She currently lives in Lehigh Acres, Florida with the love of her life, Art Butler-Lowrie.
