Autorenporträt
Ernest Renan, geboren 1823 in Tréguier, sollte auf Wunsch der Mutter Priester werden. Empfing 1844 die ersten Weihegrade, danach durch sein Studium schwerwiegende Zweifel an der historischen Wahrheit der Heiligen Schrift. Seine Veröffentichung 'Leben Jesu' wurde in Frankreich und im Ausland ein großer Erfolg. Der Autor verstarb 1892 in Paris.
