This book is about the lighy caste system in Kamw land of Adamawa State. The lighy are the blacksmiths among the Kamwe people of Adamawa State. The lighy caste in Kamw land are discriminated against and are regarded as second class citizens mostly because of their occupation and the kind of food they eat. The book further examined the origin, development and the impact of the lighy caste system in Kamw land. It also made a comparative analysis of the lighy caste system and the caste system in some parts of the Mandara Region and Igboland. It revealed that the lighy are the economic back-bone of the Kamw society, but yet they are discriminated against in social, political and judicial matters. For example they are not allowed to hold political offices or marry non-lighy in Kamw land. This has led to a lot of lighy young men and women leaving Kamw land for other parts of Nigeria and beyond.
