Globalization and urbanization are spreading worldwide. Big companies and western cultures influence the lifestyles in the developing countries, including diets, leading to dietary transition. Traditional diets are being replaced by new ones based on the increased consumption of tobacco, alcohol, sugar, salt, fat, animal food products, refined carbohydrates, and processed food. In this way the young urban society becomes addicted to cheaper and easily affordable food with permanent consequences on their health in form of noncommunicable (chronic) diseases. All of them could be largely prevented. Natural laws have important place in our lives and they can not be denied. Knowledge of these could further prevent problems with food shortages, depletion of scarce natural resources, prevent pollution of the environment, and relief global warming and population growth impacts. Developing countries are steadily increasing their consumption of animal food products. This reality basically means there will be less food available for less people on the global scale. These are the tough natural laws I wrote about. Besides that it makes our lives much more expensive and unsustainable.

I was born and live in Slovakia, a small Central European countrywith a beautiful rural nature. I have always inclined to thesustainable lifestyle my grandparents lived. Recently I have realised human beings were not "designed" to eatand live the way they eat and live today. An awakening of this will help to heal the present world's wounds.
