Why is it that young children lick railings and shopping cart handles, or devour the candy just discovered in the crack of the carseat? Children can be gross! It's a known fact that children are captivated by all things gross! Set in rhyme, The Lollipop in My Pocket tickles the child's sense of humour, when Maimee and her granddaughter violate the famous 'five second rule' (which doesn't truly exist by the way) time and time again. Gathering dirt and germs here and there, the curious problem-solving that is required to keep the lollipop 'fit to be eaten' will delight young readers.

About the Author Lavonne is the proud mother of four grown children and grandmother of six. Lavonne completed a PhD in Educational Psychology at the University of Alberta, following which she worked in the Canadian school system as a School Psychologist, with preschool to twelfth-grade children. Lavonne passionately declares, "The children taught me more than formal education ever could!" In her career, Lavonne became deeply aware of the important role of humour in the development of children - in their social and emotional learning, creative thinking and problem-solving, and as it encourages reading and writing. Now retired, Lavonne lives in Halifax, Nova Scotia and spends her time writing, gardening and in her kayak. This is Lavonne's first picture book for young children.
