Social security in India has emerged as an important political agenda in recent years. The two flagship initiatives of the Indian government-the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme and the Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojna-have been welcomed by the citizens and political parties alike. And yet, there are complaints about implementation, corruption and other issues.
