The Lost Portal: A Quest to Save Olympus and the Underworld is an action/adventure fantasy novel involving the mythological realms of Olympus and Van Lang (ancient Vietnam) caught up in the Vietnam War. The story begins when the Titan god Cronus is overthrown by his son Zeus and the Olympians and sent to the Underworld. Cronus wants desperately to regain his throne and exact revenge on the Olympians, including his son Hades who rules over him in the Underworld. Zeus hears of the plot and commands Ares and Athena, the god and goddess of war, to set out on a quest to stop Cronus. They are joined by Hermes, Damon, Castor and Pollux and become the "Six." Cronus and Adecius, his sycophantic follower, discover a lost portal to the Underworld leading to Van Lang, which is ruled by Ong Troi, the God of Heaven. Cronus' entry into Ong Troi's Kingdom presents the prospect of a clash between two mythological realms of the Universe. One other complication, it's 1968 in the middle of the Vietnam War. When the Six follow the portal to the Plain of Reeds in Vietnam they join a Special Forces A-Team to train and equip 1,800 Legionnaires from the Underworld to do battle with Cronus' army of 5,000 Dog Soldiers. The ensuing battle can best be described as Clash of the Titans meets Apocalypse Now. Substitute the Crazy World of Arthur Brown's "Fire" for Lieutenant Colonel Kilgore's "Ride of the Valkyries" and there will be a lot more than the smell of napalm in the morning.
