Autorenporträt
Frances Hodgson Burnett (1849-1924) was an Anglo-American author and playwright. Born in straitened circumstances in nineteenth-century Manchester, she emigrated to the United States and began writing to support her family. She is best remembered for her children's stories, in particular  Little Lord Fauntleroy (1885-6), A Little Princess (1905), and The Secret Garden (1911).
