Autorenporträt
Kristin has been creating music for over thirty years. She grew up in a musical family, and began learning to play the piano before she could read. After visiting her cousins and seeing them play the violin, she wanted to play. She walked around the house with two drum sticks pretending it was a violin and singing in a "violin voice." Her parents decided listening to a real violin would probably be better than listening to the "violin voice." She began violin lessons at age 5. She and her mom began playing and creating music together as soon as she could play in tune and had learned all the notes in the key of A.She studied piano and violin all through high school and couldn't imagine life without music so she went on to completed a violin performance degree. After her undergraduate degree she completed a master's degree in church music with a violin principle. She has completed the Suzuki teacher training for Books 1 - 10, plus additional courses offered by the Suzuki Association of the Americas. She has spent hours playing in symphonies, string quartets, bluegrass bands, recording studios, orchestra pits, and worship bands. She has played as a section violin with the Virginia Symphony, Stratus Chamber Orchestra, Shreveport Symphony, South Arkansas Symphony, and the Pensacola Symphony. She taught violin at Colorado Christian University in Lakewood Colorado, pre-school music theory at Children's Music Academy in Centennial, Colorado, and violin and theory Centenary Suzuki School in Shreveport, Louisiana. She is an active member in Music Teachers National Association and Suzuki Association of the Americas. She loves teaching and loves the Suzuki method. She has completed the teacher training for levels 1-10. She continues to pursue sharpening her teaching and communication skills through additional teacher training. When she's not creating music, you might find her enjoying coffee with friends and family, skiing, hiking, biking, or perfecting her sourdough.
