This book seeks to analyze, from the perspective of psychosocial processes, the meaning of work in the lives of shop assistants in a hypermarket in the city of Belo Horizonte and also to verify the relationship between their activities and psychological health or illness. The Brazilian retail sector has undergone profound cultural and structural changes, and is currently one of the segments that generates the most job opportunities in the labor market, offering diverse functions for professionals from different areas. The analysis proposed by this study aims to understand the psychological and social value of the activities of professionals in this sector.
