Throughout his career, Mijatovi¿ dedicated himself to building goodwill and support for Serbia, in his many international negotiations, but especially in Great Britain as Serbia's Ambassador in London, and later on in his visits to the US and Canada.

CEDOMILIJ MIJATOVIC (1842-1932), Serbian writer and statesman, was one of the leaders of Serbia's Progressive Party. He became the minister of finance at the age of thirty-one and passed many important reforms, including the development of a new currency and protections for the poor. He wrote a number of books in English, including A Royal Tragedy, Being the Story of the Assassination of King Alexander and Queen Draga of Servia (1906) and Constantine, the Last Emperor of the Greeks (1892). He was married to Elodie Lawton, British author and abolitionist.
