Franz Kafka é considerado um dos escritores mais importantes do século XX. Nasceu em Praga, Império Austro- Húngaro (República Tcheca) em 3 de julho de 1883 e faleceu em Klosterneuburg (Áustria) em 3 de junho de 1924. De família judaica, escreveu seus textos em alemão. Agressão física e psicológica, conflitos familiares, momentos aterrorizantes e labirintos burocráticos são características das obras de Kafka. Essas marcas deram origem ao termo kafkiano.
