The author: Dr. John B. Dunlop is a Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution on War, Revolution and Peace, and a member of the Steering Committee of the Stanford University Center for Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies. He is the author of numerous books, including "Russia Confronts Chechnya: Roots of a Separatist Conflict" (Cambridge University Press, 1998) and "The Rise of Russia and the Fall of the Soviet Empire" (Princeton University Press, 1993, 1995). The author of the foreword: Dr. Donald N. Jensen is Director of Communications of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty in Washington, DC.
