The courage of the fighters under the command of General Dumitrache made the 2nd Alpine Division acquire on the front a well-deserved renown, in line with the determination of the soldiers of this great unit: "Chad Division". The famous historian Alesandru Dutu noted in his latest volume that "General Dumitrache led large units of the Romanian Army that reached the most Eastern point of World War II. The Romanian Soldiers under his command fought in the Caucasus Mountains, with the Romanian 2nd Alpine Division, reaching close to Groznîi, the capital of Chechenia!"
