Sarah and Nickolas McGuire-ages ten and twelve, respectively-find themselves facing a new set of adventures when they realize that just escaping Great-Aunt Vivian's manor house was not the end of the story. Their cousin, Simon, falls gravely ill as a result of his time captured by Vivian and her experiments. Sarah and Nickolas, along with several of the Muses must solve the mystery of how to cure Simon. Along the way they discover that not only their cousin, but all the inhabitants of Great-Aunt Vivian's manor are falling ill, and that they have very little time to find a cure before it is too late. The quest for a cure leads them to dig into their family's past as they try to track down the scientific research of their great-grandfather, Dr. Christopher Montague, leading them to Chicago University and then back to Montague Manor and finally into the cross hairs of Dr. James and Great-Aunt Vivian once again. Part magical fantasy adventure, part sci-fi thriller, The Muses is an entirely intriguing and entertaining series that will captivate young and young-at-heart readers alike, and remind them how otherwise "ordinary" people can often accomplish the extraordinary just by being themselves.

Autorenporträt
N. L. McEvoy lives wherever her husband's job takes her. The concept for this series was started in London as she walked her children down the hill to school and passed a particularly interesting garden surrounded by a high brick wall and accessible only by a blue wooden door partially hidden by vines and locked tight. Her children's curiosity (to say nothing of her own) led her to create the story of Great-Aunt Vivian's magical gardens and the young boy and girl who got to explore behind that blue door. She is currently living and writing in Orlando, Florida, assisted by her three muses: her handsome husband and two lovely children. Also on team McEvoy are one snoring Newfoundland, whose primary job is to scare off any cats who dare step foot on their property; one enthusiastic British Labrador, whose main job is sleeping on the author's feet as she types; and two introspective tortoises, who really don't do much of anything. This is her second published book.
