Nabucco is a gas pipeline project from Turkey to Austria which should transport natural gas from the Caspian Sea to Europe. The project is of top priority for the EU because of issues such as security of supply and energy diversification. First the author describes the situation of energy development within the EU and the strategies concerning natural gas in Europe.
