Back Cover: The Nest - Sheltered in the Branches of the Tree of Life - I have a tender memory of my grandmother picking me up in her arms and spreading the branches of a treasured little tree in her garden to reveal a bluebird nest with three tiny eggs. As I grew, I cherished that memory. Eventually I realized that I was as unique as that little tree and I discovered that I had a special nest of my own. A woman's coming of age is meant to be celebrated. It's a private milestone, but loved-ones can make it special and memorable. I've created this journal with the hope that a loved-one would give it to a special young woman who is just beginning her journey into womanhood. Gifting her this tangible memento (especially in a protected area that she will have access to no matter what comes in the future, like a national park...) can help to ground her as she partakes in the journey that women around the world have experienced since our beginnings. May she feel connected with her femininity as she uses this journal throughout her reproductive life, keeping track of her monthly cycles, her fertility cycles and other feminine milestones through the years. These pages will see a woman through the years of learning how to build her nest, the years of caring for her fertile eggs, the months of nourishing and hatching her precious chicks and the enveloping warmth of the sweet farewell when she finds herself with a proudly empty nest that has served her well.
