A cross between Why We're Polarized and The World Without Us, The Next Civil War is a work of speculative nonfiction that takes an America already in a state of civil strife and prophesizes its climactic collapse, rooted in interviews with experts—miltary leaders, law enforcement officials, environmentalists, war historians, political scientists—for publication on the anniversary of the Capitol insurrection.
