Autorenporträt
FRANZ WRIGHT was born in Vienna in the spring of 1953. He grew up in the northwest, the midwest and northern California. After graduating from high school, he spent a year traveling throughout Europe. He graduated from Oberlin College with a degree in English Literature. He subsequently spent many years traveling and writing in the United States, and held writing fellowships at the University of California, Irvine, the University of Virginia, and the Provincetown Fine Arts Work Center. This is his third full-length collection. He has also published numerous limited edition volumes of his work, along with a number of translations from German and French poets. In 1989 he became a writing fellow of the Guggenheim Foundation; and in the fall of 1991 received, simultaneously, awards from the Whiting Foundation and his second award from the National Endowment for the Arts. He lives in Boston with the painter Martha McCollough.
