The narrative interpretive method of research and documentary analysis were utilized. Twenty-six nurse professoriate from both government and private colleges of nursing participated in the study with the aid of a semi-structured interview. The narrative interpretive analysis was used for analyzing the data that was divided into descriptive and interpretive phases. Data revealed the nurse professoriate's different conceptions of what constitutes teaching. Five cultural values: honesty, commitment, competence, compassion/caring were identified by the nurse professoriate. The culture of instruction, research and community serviceinteracts with the four cultural domains which consist of energizing, edifying, preserving and connecting elements.

Lily Ferrer-Famadico is an associate professor of the College of Nursing, University of Santo Tomas. Currently, she is a member of the Faculty Council which she has served for four years now. She is also a Research Lecturer and adviser in the college as well as a research adviser of UST and St. Paul University Manila Graduate School.
