Can the 1066 invasion of England by William, Duke of Normandy and the ensuing Battle of Hastings be avoided? Even though King Harold II of England had previously pledged by solemn oath on Holy Relics an oath of fealty to Duke William, must he support William's claim to the throne of England. Has the dying declaration of King Edward that he be succeeded by Earl Harold Godwinson no validity? When Duke William seeks resolution of his claim that he is the rightful king of England and Harold a forsworn usurper before the High Court of the Association of International Communities, will his claims be supported by law? King Harold, the former Earl of Wessex and right hand man of the dying King Edward must resolve his moral and legal obligations to himself and to his country as well as prevail in a court of law.

Ever had a book hook you on a favorite subject? A wonderful little book "1066 And All That", A Memorable History of England, Comprising All The Parts You Can Remember Including One Hundred And Three Good Things, Five Bad Kings, And Two Genuine Dates, by W.C. Sellar & R.J. Yeatman, was "the hook" which started my interest in Medieval England (even though it counts Duke William's invasion of England as 'a Good Thing). Combine that interest with a rewarding career as a litigation attorney and you have the seeds for "The Oath". I am also the author of "How To Raise and Train an English Setter", another life-long love and interest. Penmaen English Setters have a respected place in English Setter pedigrees and a very warm place in my heart. As a transplanted New Englander, I thoroughly enjoy living in Florida with my English Setter, mini poodle, most sociable cat ever, and a miniature horse. Though I miss my three children, spouses and grandchildren, I am thankful that they have their own happy and fulfilling lives.
