Autorenporträt
Bertil Albrektson, a recipient of honorary doctorates from Edinburgh and Åbo Akademi as well as of the Burkitt Medal, was Professor of Biblical Studies at Åbo Akademi in Finland between 1967-1976. He was a member of the 1973 Bible Commission which prepared the Swedish Bibel 2000. Starting with his dissertation on the book of Lamentations, he published extensively on text, translation, and theology of the Old Testament. For the present volume, he prepared the text of Lamentations. Sven Emanuel Dedering was Professor of Semitic Languages at Lund University. He was a specialist of Syriac and Classical Arabic and has published many text editions, including the Peshitta Institute's edition of the Syriac Apocalypse of Baruch. He passed away in 1986. For the present volume, he prepared the texts of the Epistles of Jeremiah and Baruch, as well as the book of Baruch. Donald M. Walter, who completed his doctoral dissertation under Charles T. Fritsch, James Barr, and Philip C. Hammond, prepared Psalms for the Peshitta Institute's edition of the Old Testament. He has also served as an editor of Vol. 1 of the Concordance issued by the Institute, and is the first translator for Kings of the Institute's Bible of Edessa. For the present volume, he prepared the text of Jeremiah. Konrad D. Jenner was formerly University Lecturer in Old Testament Studies at Leiden University and Director of the Peshitta Institute. He has published on Syriac codicology and palaeography, biblical exegesis, and comparative religion. For the present volume, he checked and completed all editions and introductions together with Geert Jan Veldman. Geert Jan Veldman studied Semitic Languages in Groningen and Leiden, and is presently a research assistant at the Amsterdam Peshitta Institute.
