Susan Audette began canoeing as an adult and quickly became and enthusiast. She was a member of the first United States Canoe and Kayak Marathon Team to attend the World Championships (1988), and although her love of the sport includes sleek racing canoes and kayaks, wood-and-canvas canoes remain a favorite. She is a member of Wooden Canoe Heritage Association.
