Brian Gill is the former curator of land vertebrates at the Auckland Museum in New Zealand. His research has included studies of New Zealand cuckoos, song birds, and extinct birds. He has also completed field surveys of reptiles and birds on the Pacific Islands. He is the recip[ient of the Ornithological Society of New Zealand's Robert Falla Memorial Award and the author of New Zealand's Extinct Birds, New Zealand's Frogs and Reptiles, The Owl That Fell from the Sky and The Unburnt Egg.
