Elizabeth Foskett was born in Hertfordshire and is a graduate of Oxford University. As an educationalist at a Training College, she specialised in history and languages. She has travelled extensively and visited East and West Germany a number of times during and after the Cold War, noting the impact on people's personal lives. She now lives in a small village in Surrey.
