Veteran broadcaster Monique Durand has been working at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) since 1982, first as a journalist and later as a director and producer. Pursuing a keen interest in international development and humanitarian aid, she has created several radio series in developing countries, including investigative pieces on women in war, human rights and social justice. Her work has led to invitations from around the world to lecture on international issues. In addition, Durand¿s literary credits extend to screenwriting and translation; she also published a series of short stories in 1998. La Femme du peintre The Painter¿s Wife, published in France in 2003, is her first novel. Durand now divides her time between North America and Europe.
