Parenting Power Struggle Handbook: How to Get Out of Power Struggles NOW and Avoid Them in the Future is the latest book from Timothy J. Hayes, Psy. D. Dr. Hayes uses his years of experience to help you become a better parent and provide for a happier family life. Question: Who should read this handbook? Answer Anyone who wants to get more of what they can out of life, with less frustration. Anyone who is frequently angry and frustrated because other people don't do what one wants them to do. Anyone who has children. Anyone who feels they are "stuck" in a situation or relationship. Anyone who feels they did not have good parenting role models. Anyone who wants to be a better parent. Anyone who does not like the way their children are acting. Question: What will I learn by reading this book? Answer You will learn the single most useful thing I have learned in twenty-nine years of doing therapy. You will learn how to identify a power struggle. You will learn how to get out of power struggle. You will learn how to build your credibility. You will learn how to create a family structure and house rules that can lead to a healthier, happier family. You will learn how to use things you can control to make your life more safe, more sane, and more gratifying.

Autorenporträt
Timothy J. Hayes, Psy.D. is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in Illinois with thirty years of therapy experience. He began working with children and their families as a probation officer in Indiana in 1974 and has continued to work in the field of individual and family therapy ever since.

Dr. Hayes helps people learn to focus on things they actually can control to make their lives more safe, sane and rewarding, regardless of what other people choose to do. He has post graduate training in a variety of advanced techniques including; Depth Oriented Brief Therapy, EMDR I&II, and Neuro-Emotional Technique.

He routinely tells his new patients, (and anyone who will listen), that there have to be two fundamental pieces in place for any therapy to be effective. 1) You must have a therapist who knows what he or she is doing. 2) You must have someone with whom you are comfortable. If either of these two things is missing the therapy cannot be successful.

As a psychologist in private practice Dr. Hayes has dedicated himself to working with other professionals, including several female co-therapists, to provide children and their families the resources needed to make the changes they want to make.

Dr. Hayes has extensive experience working with individuals and families who have experienced severe trauma whether the trauma was recent or in the distant past. These traumas include things like, physical abuse, verbal abuse, emotional abuse, sexual abuse, incest, neglect, and severe physical trauma.

As a psychologist and a father, Timothy J. Hayes, Psy.D. has written extensively about power struggles and authored the Power Struggle Handbook (currently out of print), and the Parenting Power Struggle Handbook which is available from his web site and other select locations.
