This research is an analysis of the perceptions of teachers and learners in teaching and learning of Ordinary level Mathematics in large classes at Chizondo secondary school. The research utilized three questionnaires, one for the teachers, one for the learners and one for the school head. Also, lesson observation was done to find out how the learners' and teachers¿ conduct during the lessons. The research used a sample of three mathematics teachers and the sample for learners was 240. The data was analyzed using tables. The results for the teachers indicated that the Mathematics teachers perceive that working with large classes poses insurmountable problems. They perceive that learners will not benefit much from being in large classes. The lesson observations show that teachers' most form of interaction is through the lecture method and less group work. Pupil-pupil interaction was low. The researcher recommends that all teachers teaching should make sure that all learners benefit from learning taking place, that the government should consider the number of learners that the teacher teaches in every lesson.
