The book provides so many insights into how French photography acted as a colonial apparatus in approaching women from colonial Fez. The role of postcards as travelling tools of representation has facilitated the task of the colonizing/civilizing mission not only to document the specificities of a different culture to ultimately enrich and enlarge the scale of cultural diversity but also to report their 'spectacular' presence within the colony along with their appropriating of all forms of otherness, a pictorial claim which generates numerous forms of couterdiscourse.
