Illustrated Edition: This special edition includes 20 stunning illustrations, each capturing key moments from the chapters, bringing Wilde's masterful tale to vivid life. Bonus Features: In addition to the novel, this edition comes with an engaging summary, a comprehensive list of characters, and a detailed biography of Oscar Wilde, offering readers deeper insight into the story and its creator. Explore the sumptuous and eerie realm of Oscar Wilde's "Dorian Gray Picture," which is offered in a special illustrated version that revitalizes this timeless work. Go on a journey with Dorian Gray, a young guy of unparalleled beauty and purity who is the subject of a photo that hides a dark secret. Under the cynical influence of Lord Henry Wotton, Dorian strives for eternal youth and beauty. His picture matures and rots in his place, signifying the rot of his soul, horrifyingly fulfilling this dream. Set against the backdrop of Victorian London, Wilde's novel is a brilliant exploration of vanity, moral duplicity, and the pursuit of beauty at a devastating cost. As Dorian delves deeper into a world of hedonism and selfish indulgence, his outward appearance remains unmarred by time or conscience, while the portrait hidden away becomes a grotesque testament to his inner depravity. With its meticulously chosen pictures, this version not only makes for an engrossing read, but it also deepens your comprehension of Wilde's masterwork with an incisive synopsis, an extensive character list, and an instructive biography of the author. This illustrated version of "The Picture of Dorian Gray" is a must-have for anybody who recognizes the ability of literature to challenge and captivate, regardless of whether you've been a longstanding devotee of Wilde or are just now getting into his work.Hinweis: Dieser Artikel kann nur an eine deutsche Lieferadresse ausgeliefert werden.
Oscar Fingal O'Flahertie Wills Wilde, also known as Oscar Wilde, was an Irish poet and playwright who lived from 16 October 1854 to 30 November 1900. He wrote in a variety of genres throughout the 1880s before becoming one of London's most well-known playwrights in the early 1890s. The Picture of Dorian Gray, his plays and epigrams, as well as the circumstances surrounding his meningitis-related early death at age 46 and criminal conviction for gross indecency for consensual homosexual activities in "one of the earliest celebrity trials," is what people will remember him for most. Anglo-Irish intellectuals in Dublin, Wilde's parents were. French and German were picked up by young Wilde with ease. While in college, Wilde read the Greats and distinguished himself as an outstanding student of classical literature, first at Trinity College Dublin and then at Oxford. He became involved with the aestheticism movement, which was being spearheaded by two of his professors, Walter Pater and John Ruskin. Wilde moved to London after finishing college and became a part of rich social and cultural circles. Queensberry intended to publicly humiliate Wilde by tossing a bouquet of decaying vegetables onto the stage, but Wilde was informed and had Queensberry turned away from the theater.
