Annemarie Nikolaus, nacida en Hesse, vivió durante 20 años en el norte de Italia. En el 2010 se mudó junto a su hija a Auvergne, en Francia. Estudió Psicología, Publicidad, Política e Historia y trabajó, entre otras, como psicoterapeuta, educadora, periodista, lectora y traductora. Empezó su carrera en la literatura en el año 2001 y en el 2005 apareció la edición impresa de su primera novela, un trabajo conjunto con otras dos autoras: El caballo de fuego. Desde el 2011, publica preponderantemente en forma independiente.
