Elizabeth Barrett Browning (6 March 1806 - 29 June 1861) was an English poet and one of the most prominent poets of her time. During her lifetime her poetry gained great applaud both in England and in the United States. She suffered from ill health all her life and was amazed that Robert Browning fell in love with her and wished to marry her. She was eight years his senior and an invalid.
